The Te Arai house is a large beachside pavilion.

The project has a conceptual simplicity with a concrete roof with deep overhangs framing a highly glazed pavilion below.

An elemental materiality is carried out throughout the house with the timber roof, concrete walls, limestone floor and steel kitchen.

The house is carefully artificially lit to create a sense of gently lit individual zones or spaces.
